Sensory Art & Design • Ages 4–7
Experimental Arts is a sensory-led creative program for young children aged 4–7. Each week, children explore a different material, technique, or design concept — from colour mixing and texture making to simple construction and pattern design. Rooted in design thinking principles adapted for early childhood, this class sparks curiosity, builds fine motor skills, and gives children a joyful, mess-welcome space to express themselves through making.
Mix, layer, and discover colour relationships through painting and printing.
Explore different textures using natural materials, fabrics, and found objects.
Design repeating patterns inspired by nature, textiles, and everyday objects.
Create 3D structures using recyclable materials and simple joining techniques.
Arrange, layer, and compose mixed-media artworks developing spatial awareness.
Children create a personal art piece and describe their design choices at the showcase.
Children develop confidence to express their ideas, feelings, and observations through art — building self-esteem and communication skills.
Cutting, tearing, painting, and building all develop the hand-eye coordination and fine motor control that supports early writing.
Understanding colour relationships and visual composition gives children a foundation for design thinking that benefits them through school.
Every session is open-ended — children learn that there's no 'wrong' answer in creativity, building a growth mindset.
Describing their artwork develops vocabulary, storytelling, and the ability to explain their thinking — key skills for school readiness.

No art experience or skills needed — this class is designed for complete beginners. Mess is expected and very much welcome.
